The project incorporates nature recordings, sounds, found objects in abandoned places, diary entries, and texts. Aysu has been researching magic in everyday words and was inspired by the ghost stories she heard from the village witches. She used a collection of multimedia elements to reflect her time in the village, exploring how we are shaped by the unfamiliar places we find ourselves in.

“I think that during this entire time, we had several rituals that we didn’t frame, but they organically came together as an everyday activity, such as the first coffee of the day, sitting together, reading, planning, and dreaming. The harmony we found in our living space helped me discover a different work approach. As I was talking with Maria last night, she used the word “surrender,” which made me realize that there was no force or resistance towards creating in any of us. Rather, we let the place guide us in what we wanted to do with our hours in a day. This residency was not about individualism, and it brought together many beautiful themes and aspects of sharing a place, a home.”
Aysu is a writer interested in imaginative landscapes, identity, and borders. Her writing often explores the embodiment of witchcraft, rituals, and ethereal themes. Lately, she has been interested in exploring identity in relation to places and interacting with the concept of feeling at home in distant locations.
